Meet Our Board
PRESIDENT: CHRISTINE FOY
Christine currently works as a diabetes educator at the UHS Diabetes Center in Johnson City, NY.· She is also working part time with the UHS Stay Healthy Kids Program. Prior to her current position, she worked as a clinical dietitian at UHS Wilson Medical Center for 6 years.· She is on the Weight Management Teaching Day Committee and the Stay Healthy at Work Committee at UHS. She resides in Apalachin, NY with her husband Brian and son Daniel.
PRESIDENT-ELECT: JULIE TUCKER
Julie graduated from Cornell University where she earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Nutritional Sciences and attended Syracuse University to complete her Dietetic Internship. She works for Broome-Tioga BOCES Rock on CaféTM School Food Service Program across 15 school districts in Broome and Tioga Counties. Julie received the 2011 Recognized Young Dietitian of the Year Award from the New York State Dietetic Association and was a recipient of the “30 under 30” Award from Food Service Director Magazine, as one of thirty in the country under the age of thirty to make a significant impact.
IMMEDIATE PAST PRESIDENT: CYNTHIA CAVE-GAETANI
Cynthia is currently employed as the Clinical Nutrition Manager with Morrison Healthcare at Lourdes Hospital in Binghamton. She has a diverse professional background including community health and wellness promotion, clinical program management, individual and group counseling, and school food service and has certifications in both adult and pediatric weight management.· She has served on the Board of Directors of NYSDA as the Professional Issues Chair and of STDA in several positions including her most recent as president for 2010-2011.· Cynthia is also the proud mother of two children, Jordan and Cecilia.
TREASURER: MARY GRIFFIN
Mary has been active on the STDA Board since 2001. She has previously served as President, Public Policy Chair and as a member of the Professional Issues Committee. She is currently a full-time mom and a per diem dietitian for the HIV Primary Care Clinic at Arnot-Ogden Medical Center.·
PROFESSIONAL ISSSUES CHAIR: JESSICA CZEBINIAK![]()
Jessica graduated with her Bachelor’s from the University of Montevallo with highest honors and completed a yearlong internship at the University of Alabama at Birmingham Graduate school of Health professions. Recently she started working as a consultant for the Chenango County Head Start Nutrition program along with seeing clients in her own private practice. Prior to her current position, she worked in long-term care at Susquehanna Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Jessica is enjoying her life in the upstate New York area as a newlywed with her husband Christopher.
SECRETARY: AMY MILLER
Amy has worked for the United Methodist Homes since 2001, first as a Clinical Dietitian at the Hilltop Campus for 6 years. For the past 3 years she has been employed in their corporate office as a Clinical Informaticist and in nutrition support for their NY campuses. She also serves on the ADA Taskforce for Nutrition Informatics.· Amy has been on the STDA Board previously on the PIC Committee.
PROFESSIONAL ISSUES COMMITTEE: ALEXA SCHMIDT
Alexa has been employed with Sodexo Campus Services at Binghamton University for 9 years. As the campus RD she works with students, faculty, staff and athletes. Alexa also teaches Nutrition courses for the Health and Wellness Studies Dept at BU. She is board certified in sports dietetics. Alexa’s most exciting job is being a mom of two: Ava and Michael.
PUBLIC POLICY CHAIR: EILEEN GRIFFIN
Eileen Griffin is currently employed with Abbott Labs/Abbott Nutrition. Eileen has spent 15 years with Abbott Nutrition and 3 years with Abbott Diabetes Care. Prior to joining Abbott, Eileen was employed by Marriott Corp, now known as Sodexho Health as a Clinical Nutrition Manager at Geneva General Hospital. She has been active on both STDA and GDA boards.
MEMBERSHIP CHAIR: JULIE LEONARD
Julie currently works as a Clinical Dietitian at Lourdes Hospital in Binghamton. Prior to her current position, she has worked in long-term care for the past 8 years, 5 of which were with Sodexo Senior Services as Clinical Nutrition Manager at Susquehanna Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Johnson City. She resides in Endwell with her husband Nate, and labrador retriever Toby.
NOMINATING CO-CHAIR: WENDY WOLFF
Wendy is currently the dietitian for Endwell Family Physicians and Catholic Charities.·Her previous positions include dietitian at Susquehanna Nursing Home, Clinical Nutrition Manager at Bellevue Hospital (NYC), Quality Assurance Coordinator at NYU Medical Center, and clinical dietitian at Medical College of PA.· Wendy is a volunteer for community organizations such as United Health Services, the Jewish Federation, and Hillel Academy.· Wendy has been an STDA member for over 20 years and she is excited to finally be involved at the board level and she is excited to be sharing the nominating position again for a second year!
NOMINATING CO-CHAIR: JUDY FRAMENT KOMARINETZ
Judy Komarinetz graduated from SUNY Plattsburgh in 1975, and the N.Y. S. Dept. of Mental Hygiene Nutrition Internship in 1977. She has worked in psychiatric care, taught and managed the Dietary Management Program at Broome Community College, and consulted at several area nursing homes. Since 2002, Judy has been back at the Greater Binghamton Health Center, where she teaches nutrition and guides the mentally ill in following healthier lifestyles. Her hobbies include golf, bowling, and gardening. She and her husband John especially enjoy visiting their grown children in Miami, the Albany N.Y. area (Cohoes), and N.Y.C
PUBLIC RELATIONS CHAIR: MONIQUE DEKLEERMAEKER
Monique has worked in critical care and cardiology in hospitals in Utica, Syracuse, and Chicago. She presently has a private practice, Three Point Wellness, and does accounting for her husband’s business. She has a degree in Holistic Health Counseling from the Institute of Integrative Nutrition in NYC and is a certified Adult Weight Management Specialist. She lives in Binghamton and has two sons, Alexander and Eric.
BYLAWS CHAIR: AMBER PRUDEN
Amber received her Bachelor’s in Nutrition and Dietetics through Mansfield University. She interned through SUNY Oneonta’s distance program and recently finished her Master’s in Nutrition through SUNY Oneonta as well. She has been a clinical dietitian at Arnot Ogden Medical Center for the past two years.· She lives in Corning, NY and has one son, Derek.
COMMUNICATIONS CHAIR: JENNIFER VALLONE
Jennifer has been a registered dietitian for the past 11 years.·She attended Marywood University as an undergraduate.· In 2009, she completed a Master’s in Public Health, online, through the University of Massachusetts.· Currently, Jennifer is working part-time from home as a RD/Coach for a research project on patients with metabolic syndrome funded through Upstate University.· Past experience includes clinical and outpatient nutrition as well as long-term care and community nutrition programs. Jennifer has been a long-term member of the Southern Tier Dietetics Association and served on the board for the various positions, including Professional Issues Committee Chair, Secretary and Public Policy Chair.· This is Jennifer’s first year as Communications Chair and she looks forward to another successful year with the Southern Tier Dietetics Association.·Jennifer resides in Endwell with her husband, Mark and twins, Francesca and Joseph.
FUNDRAISING CHAIR: LISA GERMAN
Lisa has been an RD since 1992, mostly in long term care, but she has dabbled in fitness, research, community and academia. She continues to practice part-time while raising 3 children with her husband of 18 years, Schuyler (11 yrs.), Brynne (9 yrs.) and Alexis (5 yrs.).
NEW RD STUDENT LIASON: AMANDA MILLER
Amanda Miller currently works as a dietitian at United Health Services in the dialysis units. She graduated from Wilkes University with a Bachelors degree in Biology in 2005 and then completed her dietetic internship from Marywood University in 2008. Previous work experience includes both inpatient and outpatient work at Lourdes Hospital until the summer of 2011. She was just recently married in July and is currently enjoying a new job and married life. She resides in Montrose, PA with her new husband.
REIMBURSEMENT CHAIR: MISTY CONTRERAS
Misty currently works as the Outpatient Dietitian for Lourdes Hospital in Binghamton, NY.· Her past experience includes working as a clinical dietitian in Corpus Christi, TX and working in long term care in upstate NY.· She is a proud new mommy to Liam Elijah born April 14, 2010.

Molly is the owner of Creative Nutrition Solutions and the author of The Skinny Rules. She is a Board Certified Sports Dietitian and her clients include Fortune 500 companies, school districts, and professional sports teams. Molly is a member of the American Dietetic Association Consumer Health Informatics Workgroup and a media representative for the New York Dietetic Association.
